This position consists of the essential functions of responsibility for the Supervisory Park Ranger of Interpretation (Branch Chief of Interpretation and Education) at Fort Smith National Historic Site. The incumbent is responsible for carrying out a variety of functions in the areas of interpretation, education and visitor services, including short- and long-range planning and program research. The incumbent will prepare long-range plans for park operations through comprehensive interpretation plans, make recommendations to the Superintendent concerning the integration of branch priorities, ensure on the job safety and health of all employees supervised, develop and coordinate outreach programs and orientation to professionals and school groups. Recommend promotions, reassignments, and other personnel changes. Develops performance standards and evaluates performance of staff members. Keep employees informed of management policies and goals. Oversee administrative and budgetary programs for the branch. initiate and participate in the administrative processes necessary to obtain resources and assists in park-wide budget formulation and programming, Serves liaison with park partners. Serves as park Public Information Officer and oversees the Special Use Permit/Commercial Use Agreement programs. Will be required to handle government monies. Physical Demands:
The position may require periods of strenuous physical activity including periods of standing, walking, climbing and lifting of objects weighing approximately 35 pounds (video equipment). The majority of the work is sedentary. Working Conditions:
Most assignments are performed indoors, but some activities require exposure to variances in weather and terrain. To qualify for this position at the GS-11 grade level, you must possess at least one, if not all, of the following minimum qualifications by close of the announcement:
Experience:
At least one full year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-09 grade level in the Federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors). This experience includes activities such as:
managing a cultural resources program, museum collection or leading an interpretive operation that includes an education component. Developing interpretive plans and experience in the development of interpretive media including brochures, exhibits and video. Coaching others in the presentation of interpretive programs based on solid research. Use of technology to advance program opportunities. Problem solving and organizing work of self and others in a highly efficient manner. Familiar with cultural and natural resource management documents and participating in their development. Oversee the development of historic research. You must include hours per week worked. -OR- EDUCATION:
Successful completion of at least three years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a PhD or a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree related from an accredited educational institution in a related field of study in natural resource management, natural sciences, earth sciences, history, archaeology, anthropology, park and recreation management, law enforcement, police science, social sciences, museum sciences, business administration, public administration, behavioral sciences, sociology, or other closely related subjects pertinent to the management and protection of natural and cultural resources, or course work in other appropriate fields that clearly provided the background of knowledge and skills necessary for successful job performance in the position of Park Ranger. You must include transcripts. -OR- Successful completion of a combination of education and experience as described above. To combine education and experience, first take percentage of required education completed. Then take the number of months of full time experience and divide by 12 months. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. You must include months, years and hours per week worked to receive credit for your work and/or volunteer experience. One year of specialized experience is equivalent to 12 months at 40 hours per week. Part-time hours are prorated. You will not receive any credit for experience that does not indicate exact hours per week or is listed as varies.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
