Supervisory Paralegal Specialist

If selected for this position, you will join a well-respected team that is responsible for providing legal support to assigned Assistant United States Attomeys(AUSAs), and performing complex legal research functions and duties requiring discretion and independent judgement. As a Supervisory Paralegal Specialist GS-12 in the United States Attorney's Office (USAO), your duties include:
Providing advice, counsel, and instruction to employees on technical and administrative matters; Approving leave, making recommendations for awards, promotions, reassignments and assisting in the selection of additional staff; Instructing and providing procedural and technical guidance to other legal support staff employees in preparation of all court filings; Assisting AUSAs in pretrial and trial preparation by preparing, reviewing and organizing discovery, and organizing exhibits to be introduced at trial; and Providing technical support to AUSAs and government agents for gathering evidence in support of ongoing civil/criminal investigations and prosecutions. Responsibilities will increase and assignments will become more complex as your training and experience progress. In order to qualify for this GS-12 position, applicants must have one full year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-11) in federal service. Examples of specialized experience for this position include:
assisting an attorney in preparing for court hearing by planning and evaluating work to be accomplished independently and by others; drafting correspondence and legal documents; monitoring the progress of pending cases; performing factual and legal research related to specific cases; and preparing exhibits and discovery for trial. Interagency Career Transition Assistance Plan (ICTAP)- The ICTAP provides eligible displaced Federal competitive service employees with selection priority over other candidates for competitive service vacancies. The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
