Gerdau is currently seeking Plant Utility Workers for its Fort Smith, AR facility.
Responsibilities:
Performs all utility functions as necessary with respect to the Melt Shop, Caster, Rolling Mill, Bar Processing, and/or Shipping Departments.
Assists where necessary to maintain safe and efficient product flow.
Maintains departmental housekeeping
Coordinates with supervisor on job assignments.
Requirements:
Minimum of high school diploma (or equivalent) required.
1-2 years work experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment.
Must have willingness to successfully work in, and navigate, all areas of the mill often in excessive heat/cold /wet/noisy conditions
Must have ability to successfully navigate heights.
Willing to comply with Gerdau safety standards, policies and procedures.
Ability to work 12-hour shifts (6AM-6PM and 6PM-6AM) rotating weekly including holidays, weekends.
Willing to work overtime as selected and needed.
Ability and experience with the operation of mobile equipment (crane, forklift, etc.) is preferred
Must be motivated, a self-starter and self-directed.
Candidate must have solid communication skills.
Must have the ability to work alone and as valued member of the team. Teamwork is the key to success!
Observe and follow all general and departmental environmental procedures, practices and regulations.
Complete annual environmental training, if applicable.
