Gerdau is currently seeking an HR Generalist for its Fort Smith, AR facility.

Position Overview:
Assist in the administration of HR processes to include: recruitment and selection, wage and salary administration, employee benefits administration, training and development, career and succession, performance management, safety, and the coordination of company-sponsored employee services and activities. The primary objective of this function is to develop and maintain effective employee relations.
Responsibilities:
Coordinate employee communications to promote employee understanding of programs, policies, and objectives.
Employee Relations: Assist in the counseling of supervisory personnel on employee relation matters, including employee discipline, and resolution of employee grievances.
Recruitment & Selection: Assist recruitment effort for open positions and support hiring managers in the selection process
Compensation: Administer wage and salary policies; help maintain job descriptions and evaluations on an accurate and current basis. Communicate total compensation opportunity to employees and respond to employee questions related to applicable Compensation plans and programs.
Training and Development: Assist in identifying training needs and implementation of programs. Facilitates training sessions locally when applicable.
Benefits: Perform benefits administration and communicating benefits information to employees.
Performance Management: Coordinate performance reviews and performance improvement processes for all employees; ensure consistent application of corporate policies and procedures.
Personnel Planning
Goal Setting: Assist in the evaluation of reports, decisions, and results of department in relation to established goals and improve efficiencies.
Compliance: Maintain compliance with federal and state regulations concerning employment.
If applicable, support HR Manager with labor relations in unionized facilities.
Perform other related duties as required and assigned.


Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree Required (preferably in Human Resources, Business Administration or related field)
PHR/SPHR preferred
3-5 years recent experience working in HR as an HR Specialist and/or Generalist
Experience with Labor Relations a plus!
Solid working knowledge of HR initiatives - training, customer service, recruiting, benefit administration, compensation, new hire orientation, benefit administration, new hire orientation.
Experience working as an HR Generalist/Specialist in a manufacturing or heavy industrial environment a plus.
Strong customer service initiative/focus.
Comfortable presenting in front of diverse groups of individuals.
Portrays professionalism at all levels of the organization.
Must be flexible in working hours and traveling to outside activities such as career fairs, conferences, off-site meetings and social responsibility initiatives
Solid interpersonal skills with the ability to work with diverse populations and communication styles.
Must have the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously and multi-task to be successful in stressful situations.
Ability to independently make accurate decisions and demonstrate good judgment.
Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office Software. Knowledge and exposure to SAP a plus.
