Overview:
The Director of Government Relations - Arkansas, develops in partnership with the Mercy Government Relations Team and subject matter experts policy and lobbying positions on a variety of substantive policy matters affecting health care in the U.
S.
and Arkansas.
These policies are derived from Mercy's foundation as a member of the U.
S.
Catholic health community and as one of the largest non-profit health care system in the U.
S.
The lobbying and policy position efforts reflect the dignity and welfare of those we serve with particular concern for underserved communities.
Public Policy efforts are designed to leverage the influence of Mercy to shape critical federal and state health care policies to help improve the equitable allocation and distribution of health care resources mindful of the needs of the most vulnerable persons.
Through the mobilization of collective advocacy and lobbying efforts across Mercy to include development of public policy, realization of government grants and appropriations, and cultivation of external relationships, Mercy will be in a position to effectively guide policy change and position the health care ministry to more thoroughly respond to the communities we serve.
This leadership position is expected to advance the strategic mission and goals of Mercy, the Government Relations team, to work with internal, external, government, private, and public partners; and to increase the breadth, reach, and visibility of Mercy among constituents in local, state, regional, and national governmental, legislative, and regulatory arenas.
This position will regularly interface with Mercy leaders and co-workers, policymakers and policy-influencers at many levels, Mercy board members and volunteers, and other constituents and stakeholders concerned with healthcare and the issues facing this country.
Qualifications:
Experience:
Prefer five years experience in health care, and extensive experience in working with health care leaders and community partners.
Registered Lobbyist Preferred and/or lobbying experience.
Required Education:
Bachelors Degree Other:
Demonstrated leadership, analytical skills, public speaking, confidence in communicating with a variety of individuals, as well as success in fostering strategic partnerships, are essential.
A balance of assertiveness and diplomacy is critical, as is the ability to collaborate with a team of professionals.
Experience managing both small and large projects, detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills and effective written and interpersonal skills are required.
Familiarity and ease of use with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
Poise while working in a time-sensitive, deadline-driven, results-oriented environment necessary.
Ability to travel within Arkansas, across Mercy's footprint and occasionally to Washington DC.
- This position requires policy research and analysis, development of recommendations, creating and disseminating position statements, development of educational materials, and support of Mercy Leaders in communicating the messages.
This position will collaborate with fellow members of the Government Relations and Advocacy team and key leaders across Mercy to establish processes and procedures for realizing financing through grants and appropriations.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
