The EHS / Quality Manager is expected to coordinate and manage all day-to-day activities related to meeting all environmental, health, safety and quality standards established by applicable regulation, as well as policies and procedures established internally.
This position will be ideal for a floor-oriented people person who knows safety, OSHA, processes, and enjoys working with people to make a safety program come alive.
The right candidate will have the ability to work with operations employees and managers to maintain engagement and involvement for a strong safety program and drive quality processes with continual improvement.
How you will impact WestRock Environmental, Health and Safety:
Responsible for regulatory assessments and efforts to maintain compliance with Federal, State, and local health and safety regulations Lead efforts to comply with environmental regulations and develop measures to address ergonomics, air quality, and other aspects of workplace safety that could affect the health and well-being of employees.
Manage all aspects of the company's Industrial Hygiene Program (air, noise, ergonomics, etc.
).
Responsible for helping to lead, motivate, and foster a safety-conscious culture in the workplace to reduce incidents and injuries.
Conduct regular compliance audits and safety inspections of the facility and initiate corrective actions to eliminate hazards and promote a safe work environment Develop effective safety/environmental communications utilizing various multi-media methods Develop, implement, and administrate health and safety plans and training programs Establish, facilitate, and lead a plant safety and quality committees Lead the investigation of accidents, determine causative factors, and implement corrective action to prevent recurrence Develop task-specific job safety analyses for work performed at the facility Maintain working knowledge of industry trends and practices regarding environmental health and safety Provide innovative safety solutions and ideas Have the patience to work hands on to help the entire team understand the company's commitment to safety.
How you will impact WestRock Quality:
Coordinates programs to publicize, educate, train, and coach Total Quality principles and practices.
Facilitates project team and group learning sessions.
May include Statistical Process Control (SPC) or Statistical Quality Control (SQC) training or coordination of such training.
Communicate our expectations to suppliers.
Ensure that systems are in place to meet customer expectations.
Advises the manufacturing group of specific quality issues or of trends.
Supervises the operation of spoilage analysis reports and the maintenance of quality data for individual customer orders.
Identifies, investigates, and reports on critical quality defects on in-process and finished products.
Evaluates seriousness of defect, determines source of quality variance and specifies steps to be taken in correcting condition or the need for sorting, reworking and scrapping of product.
Confers with and assists customer production and quality control personnel regarding clarification of new and upgraded quality standards.
Resolves customer quality complaints and discusses the disposition of complaints involving marginal quality variances or potential loss of customer account.
Directs the daily assignment of employees to testing and sorting operations.
Manages exempt or hourly personnel including objective development, training, performance evaluation and career development.
Develops and maintains a system to track vendor performance.
Report performance of vendor to the management group.
Ensure systems are in place to make certain that vendors are capable of meeting quality expectations.
Enforces plant safety regulations including good housekeeping practices and all other duties as assigned.
What you need to succeed:
Must possess excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to interface with employees at all levels of the organization.
Bachelor's Degree in Health/Safety or related Science is strongly preferred Experience in industrial manufacturing will be given preference Working knowledge of Federal, State, and local regulations and industry requirements Strong written, verbal, and presentation communication skills Proficiency in Microsoft Office software Attention to detail with strong organizational skills Effective at managing multiple priorities Team building and influencing skills Analytical/problem-solving Possess a sense of urgency and self-motivation Ability to work independently May travel occasionally (.
Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
