Incumbent will raise funds and develop donors and prospects in support of our scholarship program for single parents.
Position requires broad knowledge of non-profit fundraising including individual and corporate giving, major gifts, special events, and multi-year giving.
Reports to the Executive Director.
Starting Salary:
$48,000 - $52,000 depending on qualifications and previous fundraising results.
GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF POSITION While increasing revenue is the ultimate goal, the Fund Development Officer must be strategic and creative, raising funds in such a way that simultaneously Increases the engagement and retention of current and prospective donors.
Increases the number of volunteers active in fundraising and across the program.
Develops strategic community partnerships, and Increases the visibility and positive reputation of ASPSF throughout the assigned area.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Plans and successfully implements a comprehensive development plan to meet assigned revenue target, including individuals, small businesses, corporations, foundations, civic and service clubs, etc.

Identifies and pursues new funding opportunities; prepares attractive and articulate case statements, proposals; and grant applications.
Donor/Prospect Cultivation.
Communicates frequently with donors and prospective donors.
Nurtures donor relationships through personal correspondence and contact.
Conducts research on prospective donors, makes exploratory visits.
Public Relations/Visibility.
Creates a strong visible presence in assigned area including television, radio, print media, frequent public speaking, and involvement in community events and organizations (as assigned or agreed upon).
Works closely with the ASPSF Communications Director to maximize exposure and impact through local media.
Use of Volunteers.
Strategically and effectively utilizes volunteers in all phases of the work.
Recruits and trains volunteers for their roles; cultivates relationships with volunteers as with donors; recognizes and appreciates them for their involvement; provides feedback on performance, including disciplinary action up to and including termination when necessary due to policy violations or inappropriate activities.
Reports/Records Management.
Submits required reports by established deadlines, maintains scrupulous donor records including gifts and pledges received, donor profiles, dates of communications and interactions, pertinent donor history and life changes, etc.
Other responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree and 2 - 3 years of experience in non-profit fundraising with demonstrated success.
Energetic self-starter, creative/innovative, organized, comfortable in small or large group settings and individual conversations (often including meals).
Able to write and edit effectively, and communicate with tact, diplomacy and/or authority when necessary.
Experienced at writing case statements, donor appeals, and business correspondence.
Able to meet people with ease, effectively present information, and interact in person with, and respond to questions from groups or individuals, including managers, donors, prospective donors, media, and the general public.
Ability to define problems, collect and analyze data, think strategically to create a development plan, then work the plan.
Posses a valid Driver's License and proof of current auto liability insurance.
Demonstarates intermediate skills in MS Word, basic or better skills in MS Excel, and is comfortable and capable when learning new systems.
Experience in public relations, marketing, sales, capital campaigns, and/or graphic design (Canva) a plus.
